Chairs are an integral part of The Stand.  Chairs report to their respective Overall, manage captains and committee members, and attend External or Internal meetings depending on their team.  Each team requiring chairs will have their own separate application.

Marketing Chair Descriptions:

  • Social Media:There are two open chair positions available to manage our social media accounts. These two people will work together to emulate the voice of The Stand through our current five accounts- Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and our Tumblr page. Both chairs should have experience managing the social media accounts for a brand and/or business. They should also be well versed in analytics and should have a strong understanding of each platform and its uses.
    • Social Media Chair: responsible for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest and online advertisement campaigns. Will supervise social media captains who will help manage certain social media outlets.
  • Recruitment: There are two open chair positions available to manage our recruitment and awareness efforts for The Stand. Both chairs should have experience with marketing events. They should be very outgoing, willing to interact with the public and unafraid of building relationships from scratch.
    • Recruitment Chair: responsible for the recruitment of volunteers for all open positions within The Stand (i.e. any open overall, chair or committee member positions). Once internal positions are filled, recruitment will focus on dancer recruitment for the rest of the year. For recruitment purposes, they are responsible for reaching out to alumni groups, volunteer groups, NYC schools, etc. to recruit volunteers.
    • Community Relations Chair: responsible for physical awareness efforts. They will be responsible for “hitting the streets” to spread the awareness of The Stand. They will organize events, like flyering, to spread the word of The Stand throughout NYC andNorthern New Jersey. They will utilize the Recruitment Chair’s contacts, when necessary, for outreach in the community for all efforts.

Development Chair Descriptions:

There will be 3 chair positions available within the Development Team – Corporate Sponsorship, In-kind Donations, and Catering.  Each position involves reaching out to corporations and small businesses for monetary, goods/services, and food donations.  You will be responsible for developing fundraising strategies to secure sponsorships for the event.  Below are short descriptions for each position.

Corporate Sponsorship: Solicit corporations and small businesses for sponsorship opportunities

In-Kind Donation: Secure non-monetary donations in goods and services

Catering: Reach out to local restaurants and supermarkets for donated meals and snacks for the event

Decorations Chair Description:

The Operations Team is seeking a visually oriented individual to help us as the Decorations Chair for The Stand 2014. The Decorations Chair will fall under the Operations Overall, and be responsible for establishing the look and feel of the venue during our Dance Marathon.

The ideal applicant will have:

• A strong do-it-yourself attitude, and enjoy crafting and the creation of visually aesthetic pieces.

• Ability to work with the Operations and Morale teams, and to provide decorations appropriate for the Theme Hours that the Morale team decides to put on.

• The Individual should feel comfortable seeking in-kind donations from various New York City Arts and Supply houses, as we will attempt to get product donated to support this position.

• Able to work within a budget to furnish decorations that we are unable to have donated to us.
